    Aquarium Environment

It’s no question that aquariums are a favorite venue for leisure activities and hobby for those fish lovers at home. There are plenty of public aquariums in every state and also aquariums owned by hobbyists in all walks of life. It is said that there are more than 11 million households that own an aquarium, of the overall population 18% are marine fish only or reef aquariums and more than 40% of those households have more than one aquarium. There is also a demographic sourcebook for aquarists and public aquarists that there are more than 160 million fish are kept in aquariums, either public ones or private ones. The one thing that’s interesting about aquariums is not only the various fish and sea life kept within, it’s the aquarium environment itself!

You can just marvel and be at awe when you’ve taken time to visit a public aquarium; there are plenty of fishes and uniquely created underwater habitats and environments. This is also the same for people who own aquariums whether it’s a small fish tank or a large fish tank that even contain exotic sea fish. Meticulous planning and a keen eye and sense of understanding the way of life and natural ecosystem of the fish is crucial in creating a perfect underwater aquarium environment.

The Essence of the Aquarium Environment

Planning on making a medium to large scale aquarium at home? Do you need certain tips and details to start you up? Maintaining a proper aquarium environment is necessary for the long term health of your fish and beauty of the interior of the aquarium habitat that you have created. You can get a saltwater fish or reef setup or a freshwater setup, this depends on your selection of fish and underwater flora. With this in mind, you really should have knowledge about your fish and the various constraints and challenges in developing their ecosystem inside the aquarium.

Take for consideration the way of life that the fish have in the wild. Is it rocky areas near a freshwater body of lake shore? Or an underwater sandy reef with various corals and sea flora? This will help map out the settings of the recreated ecosystem and habitats for them. Also, size matters, you don’t want to put artificial caves and rock environments on a tight quartered aquarium, visualize and balance out the environment settings to get an aquarium environment that’s just right.

    Importance of the Filtration System

Filtration is important in your aquarium tank, get adequate filtration. Take advantage of natural biological phenomena called the “nitrogen cycle” which converts toxic ammonia into non-toxic nitrate. Ammonia inside your tank is produced by their waste and uneaten feeds. Nitrate is then consumed by plants, removed by water changes and converted back to nitrate by anaerobic bacteria and cyanobacteria (blue-green algea). Keep a good filtration system for your aquarium so that you can be able to reach an equilibrium such that ammonia and nitrate are balanced. Also, opt to canister filters rather than power filters, and change filters at least once a month.

Aquascaping – Interior Designing for your Fish Tank

Aquascaping is the process wherein building the interior and environment of the aquarium adds little concepts of “interior designing”. It’s like an art form when you now have the fish, now it up to you to design a great scenery. Aquascaping isn’t just about choosing what fish, coral, rocks, and invertebrates look good in the aquarium—even though its part of it., you should also choose an environment where the animals and live a great habitat and ecosystem will be most comfortable for the whole setting of the aquarium itself.
